Ready to rock & stir up cool memories with the Off the Wall Band? Bringing you variety in live music (roots rock, classic rock, soft rock, country, folk, Motown, blues, originals & more)!
Band Concept: Remember those platinum & gold album award plaques hanging on recording studio/record label & other exhibit walls? Meet our crew below, playin’ some of those tunes from off those walls….
We hand pick the coolest hits from off those walls (plastered with platinum or gold album awards), giving careful thought about the mix. We also throw in some surprises, such as a few originals & some cool OTW renditions of songs.
It’s so awesome to see folks enjoy our song picks & reminisce about their past & current loves.
A million thanks to our audiences/friends/musician friends for the great feedback, love, support and inspiration!

Off the Wall History
OTW is a cool and a wonderful musical family: Let's start with Back of the Rack, an awesome group (with Tink, Deb, Chip, Jim Motz and Bougie a/k/a Walter Welch) that primarily played the Frederick/Poolesville/upper Montgomery County, MD circuit for several years before the sad loss of their talented lead guitarist, Jim Motz (RIP). An earlier carnation of the Off the Wall" group existed for a brief time with most of these members and various other lead guitarists prior to Back of the Rack.
Meanwhile, there were the annual Darnestock concerts, other band/trio configurations and other major influences (and encouragements) from other local musicians, from which Jim & Eileen emerged. As the Darnestock hosts did from time to time, they'd invite special guest performers to join for the fun annual outdoor concert event. Enter Tink and Debbie; after being on band hiatus for 2 years, Tink & Deb gladly joined as guest singers for D'stock 2007. Welllllll, certain trouble would continue to brew after that cool D'stock event, Off the Wall (OTW) was reincarnated with Deb, Tink, Chip, Rick, Jim & Eileen! We played a number of great public & private gigs together.
Five years later, OTW changed its lineup via some life changes w/Rick & Chip (including Chip’s move to sunnyland FL). OTW later welcomed Chris and Jon to the crew in Nov 2012 as part of the new rhythm section (with Jon & Jim swapping bass & lead guitar for added versatility). Chris had a great soft touch & dynamics. He plays a mean Cajon too for those tight spaced-
Early 2016, Chris went on hiatus for several months to take care of some personal business. Dean Preville “The Animal” stepped in temporarily to lend us a hand (or couple sticks, we should say). Superb time keeper & pocket player. Dude can sing too!
Chris returned to us in May 2017 & 2018. Since then he & other drummers fill in.
We’ll always remember the awesome gigs & times with Rick, Chip & Dean -
Another member we’ll miss is one of our core members “Deb” who is taking a break to spend more time with her grandchild.
All our players/singers (of past & present) bring incredible diversity and experiences as well as wonderful sonic spices to the OTW sound mix (not to mention the added spirit & fun).
OTW continues to grow as the amazing talents & potential of its members are tapped and pushed to new heights, much of this attributed to our audience feedback (musician and non-
